Garage doors distribute load through several connected components. A maintenance visit should look for patterns of wear and movement rather than treating one squeak as the whole problem.
Door sections
Inspect panels or sections for cracking, separation, impact damage, unusual movement or deterioration that could affect the larger system.
Hinges & rollers
Check visible wear, damaged rollers, loose hardware and movement through the track system.
Tracks
Look for obstruction, damage, loose mounting or alignment conditions that deserve technician attention.
Springs & cables
Visually inspect for obvious damage, broken strands or abnormal conditions. Loaded spring and cable components should not be adjusted as a homeowner maintenance task.
Door movement
Evaluate whether operation is smooth and whether balance or resistance suggests that the counterbalance or hardware needs closer attention.
Opener
Check powered travel, controls, safety sensors and reversal behaviour separately from the physical garage door.
Weather seals
Review the bottom seal and perimeter weatherstripping for missing sections, compression, brittleness or visible gaps.
